Who We Are
Welcome to Lane County Animal Services' Petfinder site!
Lane County Animal Services provides service for the unincorporated area of Lane County and City of Eugene. Additionally, we provide service for various other Cities on an "as needed basis only" as requested by the city's designated coordinator. What this means is that almost all of the animals we receive were "strays" and have no known history from a prior owner. We do our best to evaluate the dogs to make good matches with our adopters, but we have limited information with which to work.
Adopting a friend
ADOPTION PROCEDURES
1) Look through the kennel to see if you find a pet that interests you. You can look online here .
2) Advise the kennel staff so they can take the animal out of the kennel for a closer look and answer your questions.
3) Fill out an application, receive approval, and take the application to the front counter for processing.
4) If you rent, you will need written approval from your landlord giving you permission to adopt that specific animal.
5) All adult family members must approve of the animal of your choice.
6) If you are interested in a dog adoption and already own other dogs, you must show proof of rabies, current licensing and complete a successful dog visit.
7) It is a zoning violation in the City of Eugene to have more than two dogs living at any one residence.
8) If you live in the unincorporated area of Lane County and own more than two dogs, you must possess a Non-Commercial Kennel License.
9) Once you fill out your application and turn it in to the front office staff, you will have one day to have the pet of your choice put on hold for you so that you have time to complete the application requirements and make payment.
The animal can be released for adoption after the release date. The release date is determined by the following:
1) Whether or not the animal displayed some type of identification upon arrival at the shelter.
2) Whether or not the animal is determined to be stray or unwanted.
You can begin the adoption process immediately upon the animal's arrival at the shelter although it may not be available for release until a few days later.

From Beltline Westbound: Take Beltline to Roosevelt (light). Roosevelt is past Barger. Turn left on Roosevelt. The next light is Bertelsen Rd. Turn Right on Bertelsen. The next cross road is West 1st Ave. Turn left on West 1st Ave. We are the second driveway on the right. The sign out front indicates Lane County & City of Eugene.
From West (Coast, or Veneta area): Take Hwy 126 East towards Eugene. Go past the Beltline intersection to Bertelsen Rd. Turn left on Bertelsen. Go approx. 1 mile to West 1st ave. Turn right on West 1st Ave. We are the second driveway on the right.
From Downtown Eugene: Head West on West 11th to Seneca (Fred Meyers). Turn right on Seneca. Go to the 3rd intersection (light) which is West 1st Ave. Turn left. Go to the end of West 1st Ave. (before you reach the Bertelsen intersection). We are on the left.
As a second option, head west on West 11th past Fred Meyers to Bertelsen Rd. (there is a Dairy Mart on the right and a 7-11 on the left.) Turn right on Bertelsen. Go approx 1 mile to West 1st Ave. Turn Right. We are the second driveway on the right.
From Hwy 99 (heading south): Turn right at Roosevelt St. (4-corners). Turn left at the next light (Seneca) and go to the stop light (S-curve) which is West 1st Ave. and turn right. Go to the end of West 1st (before Bertelsen St.) We are on the left.
